Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, "Is this it? Is this everything?"
Don't you think you should have more?
What if I told you there was one thing, ONE THING, that could make that happen?
Before we get into that, let me explain something:
I am not a natural born salesman. I'm shy, introverted, and not outgoing at all. Most days I'd prefer the company of a good book over other people.
Even facing that disadvantage over most of you, I've been able to use selling as a vehicle to create the life of my dreams. And I want that for you too.
A little more history...
In 2012, I was broke, homeless, and lost.
Now, I am the Director of Sales at a large tech company with nearly 100mil of annual revenue.
I've developed numerous high performing teams of salespeople who have gone on to leadership roles themselves.
The Covert Closer's Code is my first book, and I'm incredibly grateful that you've picked up a copy.
I know you'll enjoy hearing how I got from homeless to six-figures, and hopefully the stories will change the way you see sales forever.
When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a doctor.
Not because I wanted to SAVE anyone, but because I wanted to make a lot of money.
The thing about being a doctor is that it takes about 12 more years of school after the first 12.
Going into High School, I thought, that's fine - it'll be worth it.
All I'd have to do is study hard, get good grades, and get a scholarship to a good college.
My mom made $15/hour as a single parent - scholarships were the only way I was going to get a degree.
The next four years didn't go as well as I'd hoped. It's my fault, I spent too much time chasing girls and playing video games to escape feelings of anxiety and depression.
When you say up late to play counter-strike, it's hard to stay awake and pay attention in school the next day.
Due to not being able to pay attention in class and study - I graduated high school with a 1.9 GPA.
I realized I would never get into college, let alone a full-ride scholarship with a GPA like that.
And that's when I realized I'd never be a doctor.
The urge to be wealthy and make a lot of money was stronger than ever, and I was always on the look out for ways to make a little cash.
So, instead of going to college, I went into sales.
There were people in sales that were making doctor money, so I thought I could too.
Well it turns out I sucked at sales. No surprise really, I'm an introvert. I hate people.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure you're a good person and we'd probably get along fine.
It's people in large groups that makes my heart jump up into my throat.
I worked in a variety of commission jobs, from cars to software, but there was a problem.
I hated it. I hated how unpredictable people are, how irrationally they make decisions, and how selling made me feel.
That all meant that I was unmotivated, toxic, and unhappy with what I was doing every day.
My commission was never consistent, and I kept trying to get out of sales by looking for other jobs.
Problem was, I didn't have a degree. I didn't want to wait tables again, or work in the trades - although I thought about it.
I even got close to signing up for the military, in 2006. Boy that would have been an interesting time to enlist!
Sales seemed like the only place where someone without a degree can earn a decent living to me.
So I stuck with it. For years.
Until I was 25, at rock bottom, living in my mom's basement again, and I was offered a golden opportunity.
A friend of mine was talking about a job he got selling TV's and home theater. I'll never forget, over a poker game, he said "Yeah, it's not bad. I made $600 on Sunday."
SIX-HUNDRED BUCKS? IN ONE DAY? I begged him to help me get a job there, and being the good friend he is, he did.
I knew that this was my chance, this was my chance to really start earning the money that I wanted for my entire life.
At this point, I knew I needed help. So I started watching videos, reading books, doing role plays, anything I could to learn more about selling.
Most of it didn't work.
It was too aggressive, too pushy for my tastes. I could never seem to pull off the "happy-aggressive" guy that all these trainers seemed to be.
- "Just say it with a smile on your face, it'll be fine!" Right. Like I can smile at someone while I'm trying to rip their head off.
- "Objections are steps to the sale!" What does that even mean? How do I use an objection to close a deal? Makes no sense.
- "Call people out on their bullshit!" Right. I'm a 25 year old kid, who's introverted, and obsessed with pleasing people. There's no way I can "Call people out on their bullshit." Why on EARTH would that help me get a sale?
- "Work harder than everyone around you!" Already doing that, hard work was no longer a stranger at this point in my life.
It was all just useless platitudes or things that worked for these gurus but didn't for me. And it was frustrating.
Until I came across a piece of advice that completely changed the way I looked at selling.
I realized, like maybe you have, that when these guys say stuff like that - there's something they don't tell you.
There's a mindset shift, a shift they've made in how they think that supports ALL of the sales techniques you could learn.
I noticed it first in a friend of mine that I worked with, while watching him close deals - but I couldn't describe it.
Then I started noticing it more and more, and in every top performer I've worked with - they've made this switch in thinking and they don't even know it.
Now as soon as I had seen it enough times, it started to ring true for me.
It started to make sense, how to apply all the things I'd read from gurus, all the videos I'd watched, and it was like the anxiety, call reluctance, fear of not making it, all evaporated into thin air immediately.
All because of this one mindset shift that ALL TOP performers already had made.
Of course they couldn't put that in their books, it was already a part of who they were.
And when I made it a part of who I am, it was like the secrets code of persuasion and influence was laid out right in front of me.
Here's what the shift was:
I realized that the best people only spend time with the right customers.
I was happily going along trying my hardest to close anyone I could - I figured law of large numbers would take care of me.
As a salesperson, you need to adjust your mindset and realize that you are a PROSPECTOR - NOT an alchemist.
That means you use a very specific set of skills to FILTER out the dirt and hold on to the gold.
Ask any prospector: what's the ratio of mud to gold? I'm sure you don't need to Google it to figure that one out.
Once this belief really took hold, I stopped looking at every prospect like a closed deal.
I started heavily qualifying prospects for ability to buy, willingness to buy, and whether they actually had a serious problem that I could solve.
Making that change caused me to shoot to the top of every sales board, leader board, or metrics scorecard that's had my name on it.
Managers came up to me - asking - 'how do you do that?'
My peers are asking me for advice - and of course promptly arguing with me over the simplicity of what I tell them.
Former top performers that I now crush, accused me of cheating - not only to my face but to my managers as well.
The look on their faces when they find out all my deals are 100% legit is priceless. Will never forget that.
I bought a half-million dollar home, drove a Mercedes, and have been begged to step into leadership roles for the past 5 years.
CEOs, VPs, and Recruiters who don't even know me, reach out to me on a daily basis dropping opportunities in my lap.
Today, as a sales leader and through my other ventures, I make doctor money like I always wanted.
I just don't have to be on call, operate on anyone, or worry about getting sued for malpractice.
I've created more sales leaders out of sales people than anyone I know. And those sales leaders are taking this secret and sharing it with their teams, who then turn around and produce unheard of results - revenue, engagement, longevity and job satisfaction.
Today, I have the great fortune of knowing that my skills are helping the next generation of salesperson to never have to feel the anxiety, depression, and hatred for the job as I used to.
Look, I know you know solutions are great. Books are great, videos are great. Knowing is great.
However, without ACTION, nothing happens. And today you have the opportunity to take action on something great.
You've stuck with me this long for a reason. You bought this book for a reason. This probably isn't the first book you've bought on selling, is it?
Something in all these books isn't sticking, and you know you're capable of selling more, making more, and being more.
You know you've invested in yourself, but something is still missing. And you know you're capable of closing more deals and being happier with your job, so the only thing left to ask yourself is what is going to be different this time? How are you going to get to a place where you're waking up every day and running to work because you can't wait to close some more deals?
Today, you have the chance to take advantage of the same step-by-step roadmap that will get you there.
I'm talking about the Covert Influence Academy Mindset Mastery course.
It's a 6 week program that will help you finally start utilizing all that knowledge that you've been too scared to put to use.
The reason why you can't find the success you've been searching for is not because you don't know something.
It's because you were never taught the secret to mastering your mindset.
The good news is, I've laid out the step-by-step process that has helped me and my students get out of their own way and start producing the results they know they deserve.
- In week one, you'll define what your life looks like once you've risen to the top of your industry and closed more deals in the past 12 months than in your whole sales career. You'll learn how to spend time living that life, before it's even materialized.
- In week two, I'll show you how to create everlasting confidence, that you can summon on a dime - any time you need it.
- In week three, you'll use a couple rare techniques to learn how to face and conquer the fear of rejection, once and for all.
- In week four, I'll reveal the mysteries of money that banks, credit card companies, and corporations DO NOT want you to know about.
- In week five, you'll practice being persistent without being a pest - hint: it's not what you say, it's how you think you say it.
- In week six, I'll show you how to set up the systems, accountability, and habits that will build your discipline into a rock-solid foundation for personal and professional growth.
And because you just bought a copy of my book - you'll get this whole program for $297, which is 70% off the normal price of $997.
If the 70% off isn't enough to move you across the line here, I'm also throwing in my latest book, which is my latest and greatest system for handling objections. It'll show you how to swiftly move from objection to close without pressure, awkwardness, or losing the deal by pushing too hard. This book sells for $47, and should be selling for a lot more based on how EASY it makes to handle objections in any industry.
I'll also throw in my Sales Slump Buster System - it will show you to create powerful post-sale anchors that help you remember what it feels like to completely crush anxiety and sales slumps. Slumps have nothing to do with your ability as a rep, the economy, or your luck. It's all about your mindset - often you've just forgotten what it feels like to close a deal.
When you anchor that feeling, which is actually surprisingly easy to do, you'll NEVER be stuck in a slump again - you'll be able to instantly remember the feeling right after closing a big deal.
Those feelings of certainty, pride, self-love, accomplishment, and relief will be at your fingertips 24/7, whenever they're needed to help you stay sharp or get back on your feet during a slump.
One more thing... I want to take a minute and talk to the skeptics out there.
Ya know, those of you who have watched all the way to the end, but you're still not sure this is what you've been looking for.
I get it.
You've read the books.
You've took the courses.
You've watched the videos and followed the gurus online for years.
And it still hasn't clicked for you yet. Even after spending thousands on more and more knowledge.
I completely get it. Remember, I'm the guy who is only in sales because he's not smart enough to go to college.
I'm the guy who wouldn't even TRY the stuff I was reading because I was convinced it wouldn't work.
I've done all that stuff too.
I just want you to know that I understand where you're coming from, and I've got your back.
I'm not going to lie to you and say this is some kind of silver bullet that will absolutely, most definitely, without a doubt make you a better salesperson.
You'll only know by experimentation, and once you get in there and start implementing these strategies, you'll know right away if this is what you've been looking for.
I don't want you feel locked into anything. If at any time during the first 60 days of owning this product, you aren't closing more deals and loving your job more than ever before - I'll give you a full refund, no questions asked.
So you have absolutely nothing to lose by giving this a shot.
This really is the LAST MISSING PIECE to finding your footing in sales and waking up every morning with a smile on your face, happy to go to work.
I guarantee it, or I'll give you your money back. If this doesn't work for you, then I don't want your money.
